Social Network Addiction
Dilemma:
Social network is good because it connects people all over the world, easy access and it is free. Massive amount of users are connected to each other through this cyber world and become addicted to social network. They can exchange information instantly and get to know other people even more.
On the other hand, the addiction of using social network has become an ethical dilemma. Some people are using social network excessively (time consuming), that they even used it everywhere, every time during their work, study, and their meal and etc. Moreover, with the mobile application development that increased the portability of social network, thus making the users using it more frequently. Lack of anonymity when using social network can be another issue (scams and harassment) that users often encountered.
Solution:
The possible solution for this kind of dilemma is to disable all notifications sending to email or mobile devices from social networking sites. Normally, people will begin social networking activities when they received notification. By disabling notification, people will not be tempted to start social networking and will gradually reduce his/her addiction towards social network. Therefore, they will be able to concentrate more in their real world life and be less connected to the social networking word.
In addition, people need to prioritise their time to do more important job and stop procrastinating. Reduce the usage of social network by limiting the usage in using social networking media. They have to go out more and spend more time in real world with close friends and family instead of chatting with thousands of "friends" from cyber world. For instance, they will be having more physical social interaction and not to mentioned by reducing the usage of social network will also improve quality of life. Lack of anonymity is also not an issue in the real world since people are actually have a face to face conversation.
