Thanks for this. We sang it at our school in 1965 at the memorial service for Sir Winston Churchill after he died. It is a powerful and evocative tune and memory.

i remember that day for a different reason, Claire - i was ill and went to bed in the day, well, when i woke up it was 5 in the evening, but i thought it was 5 in the morning and i could hear all this ghostly mournful music - somewhat terrified, i crept downstairs and pushed open the living room door - and there was everybody watching Churchill's funeral on TV ! - cheers, Martin.
