  • We were told we *had* to tighten in this order, otherwise it's a fail (and they made us do it over) Middle, Bottom, Legs, Head, Top (My baby looks hot tonight)

also: 1:53 You let go *again* ;) Since it' a pain to hold the patient and wrestle that stupid thing in place, and this isn't real, I'll let it fly. ;) We had to physically put in the head pillow in the back, every time

Our station never uses it we always just call rapid extrication because it's faster. Yeah, we're naughty, I know.

  • @KyprosNighthawk The order of the straps is kinda funny. I have found many mnemonics that have described the order, but they are all different orders. And since New York State's practical skill sheets does not require an order, I do not think it is a major point.

  • forgot to check for dcap btls and tenderness in the back

  • @ilwolfxv2 You have very good points, but this video is focusing on application of the KED. Trauma patient assessment is a whole new game.

  • Do you apply back board with them still in KED?

  • @TheeOz Yes.

  • Here in the middle of the country we use "my baby likes to hop" middle bottom lets top and head

  • Good video! Nice simple direction for new or refreshing medical personnel. Here on the west coast we use the phrase "boy my legs have cramps" for the strap order. Bottom, middle, legs, head, chest.

Question; does anyone know where and how the Kendrick Extrication Device was invented?

Answer; El Cajon Fire Dept. CA firefighter Rick Kendrick while working at the speedway. The metal ring on the back of the old models was so they could peel the roof back and hook the patient up with the wre

  • I love all these videos! Question about BSI - I thought they changed the word a month or two ago, but keep in mind I am not an EMT (one more year until I can get certified!) The beauty of all of your videos is that they aren't necessarily limited to just NY.
