@jas22 Mais oui, et dans ce travail de fiction, Charlotte est une complete perdant. C'est clair et c'est assez. btw, if you like my French, get ready for my nihon-go ... Shippo o maku.

@chibitube007 oh for fucks sake you realize its a work of fiction, right? im so impressed with your french.

@jas22 if she can't find a raison d'etre while visiting Tokyo for the first time, she isnt a has-been, she is a never-was.
-
@chibitube007 not everyone is a city person. she wanted to be with her boyfriend, and was left feeling like a has-been. what would be the point of tokyo without her reason for being?

@jas22 ahhaha i live on Bay Street. Totally understand what you're saying..!

great great movie but honestly, that girl, Charlotte, is a complete loser. Tokyo at that time was a GREAT city. Any gaijin who could sit in their hotel room & feel sorry for themselves should just be put out of their misery.
man, this reminds me of the several years when i was working contractually in toronto. the office was on Bay Street - i remember the feeling of 'conquest' that first day when i saw the view of the downtown core. fast forward just a couple of months, virtually chained to the desk 14 hours/ day, and the annoying as fuck people at that place, and never feeling the winter time sun. that view became a living picture that grimaced back at me. i felt what scarlet jo's character was.

Love this scene. It basically captures her alienation, her unhappiness with her life, the exclusion of love from her husband--yet, at the same time, it captures her happiness as she looks over Tokyo and thinks to herself, "Somewhere out there is either the key, thing, or PERSON to my happiness."
