April Wine performs their smash hit cover of King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man" at the Five Seasons Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for a 1982 television broadcast. Recorded live in concert, with Brian Greenway taking on lead vocal duties, this is April Wine in their prime (shortly after the release of their 1982 "Power Play" album). Seen in this clip, is April Wine's most famous (three guitar) hay-days lineup; Brian Greenway, Myles Goodwyn, Gary Moffet, Jerry Mercer (on the drums), and Steve Lang (on bass).

  • LOVE this rendition! April Wine was a band that did NOT need big hair to impress people. They just flat out jammed! Much like Triumph, RUSH and some other great Canadian rock.

Sadly here in the US, radio & record companies made bands dress like tards & play the same doldrum music. Ugh.

I love a lot of US music but the 80's was a time when copycat bands were cranked out like clcokwork for MTV.

And I hate the Grunge crapola that came after too. Ugh. Retard music.

  • Excellent! that's so much for this great , rare post!!

  • Where's Myles?

  • Fripp must have been proud!

  • @FireteamBeta

Jerry Mercer is a fantastic drummer and completely underrated as a musician.

  • Now thats a Show!!

  • I remember that this band turned me on to King Crimson. They were on a radio interview talking about how much they wanted to play this song, and I thought it was one of the wildest songs I had heard. They were big fans of Fripp.

  • the studio version of this is brilliant

  • This band did not get enough recognition. I saw them live 3 times when Jerry and Jim Clench were in the band and they kick ass. Alot of people haven't even heard of them, I wish there was some way to get more people to listen to them.

  • it aint king crimson but they do a damn good rendition of this classic

  • thats the robert plant monster
