I'm happy to see ThinkPad extending it's professional build and aesthetics into the netbook market, which is dominated by clamshells and make-up cases. The base features are acceptable, but I won't be a buyer until they release a dual-core and SSD netbook (ideally with a smaller battery option). If I had to choose tomorrow, though, between all of the available netbook models the X100e would be my choice.
what happend to the rumor of 8GB? if it can take a 64-bit os im sure it can support 8GB ram and he says 5 hours ? no mate its 3 hours with WiFi on and surfing....
wait until their 120e comes out with AMD FUSION

@polghirstenskoetter That's the reason I went with the Dell m101z and never looked back.

I'd buy the dual-core version instantly if it only had digital video out.

Great start, much better than the Vostro v13 (I mean cmon...3 hours of battery life?). But I'd gladly pay a bit more for a C2D Culv option.
Come to think of it, what about the SU2300? I suspect it's cost would be low enough for this price point.

Yes there are. I've been waiting for this for a long time. Trackpoint, no glossy screen and full-size keyboard make it perfect for us.

But for education, for productivity it's a big deal.
