You got that off of Wikipedia. Rites of Spring and the collective Washington D.C. are acclaimed to have started emo, although all of the 1985 D.C. punk scene detests this. There were at least 15 bands that created this style of music, which really is nothing more than punk with lyrics about girls. The problem was, the bands from that era disbanded and reformed so much, we have no documentation expect the memory of bands that played with them, and crowd goers.

No they didn't. SDRE was before JEW. And actually Fugazi invented that genre. And JEW isn't in emo genre actually.
