It's Springtime and time for the sheep to get their winter coats off. My brother Jean member of the local non-profit organisation helps manage the Nature Preserve Papenbroek (Natuurbebied Papenbroek) in Assent, Bekkevoort, Belgium. This wetland is on their list of land e restoration programs and bring original wildlife back as it was for eons. The Jacob sheep (four horns) are the hardworking partners in this organisation. They eat the cultivated gras and give original wild plants and animals a fighting chance to rebound and reclaim the area.
Chemicals use (herbisides) or heavy farm equipment is banned so nature has a fighting chance to regain a foothold and transfer the swamp land back to it's original state. This process will take years but is already apparent after a few year. To see more pictures visit their website at http://users.skynet.be/fa869403/NPB/#
