This was broadcast. The announcement was the subject or a huge discussion at the BBC - split between surprising and warning the audience. I agree it gave away more than the drama producers probably wanted. The following day the wording of the announcement was criticised in the press, and among watchdog types, for not spelling out clearly enough that this was complete fiction. If I remember correctly we may have done a few announcements after the show to reassure the audience. (the announcer)

I never recalled the initial continuity announcement - so was this version not used?
I think it gives away far too much of the surprise element.
