http://www.vinylengine.com/cartridge-alignment-protractors.shtml --- this is the link to the arc protractors you can print out. Make sure you use the right one for your turntable. I used the Technics one as my Stanton table has the same mounting distance (230 mm) as the Technics SL-1200. Cut the spindle hole out with an X-Acto knife and tape to a record for best performance!

  • Awesome video Paul question though I have this record player that I just started to set up what is the wire in the back of the player that has the shape of a fork? I don't know where it goes

  • @Afrorager18 That is the grounding wire. On the back of your preamp or receiver, you should see a little place where you can screw that in.

  • I would've thought that setting the arm height at the end pretty much negates any tracking weight adjustments you've done before that.

  • @dancraggs No, it doesn't. Think about it. If you raised a see-saw five inches above or dropped it five inches below the ground, it would still balance the same. The balancing on a lever is all about how much weight is on either side of the balancing point (i.e. fulcrum).

  • ahaha i can't believe you're wearing socks

  • @Sumguy21 It gets cold in NY.

  • You need a phono preamp or a mixer with phono inputs.

  • I have a project essential with an ortofon 3E. It's been fine since I got it but earlier the disortion got quite bad throughout, it comes with a protractor and plastic project counter weight adjustment thingy which I have used. However I have no idea how to 'adjust the alignment', it seems to fit in the square fine. any help?

  • Paul, what record was that?

  • can you use the mp3 song or do u have to buy records

  • Thank you, very useful1111

  • zombie!!!!

  • What phono preamp are you using? or what do you recommend for some good sound?

  • Like your taste in music, I have that album. New Order rocks!!!!

  • whats the name and brand of that turntable?

  • correct, this video is worthless

  • That was very good EXCEPT... I cringed when you adjusted the headshell screws without supporting the cartridge. It's important that the cartridge is pointed straight ahead and to properly do that you have to remove the headshell repeatedly during the protractor process. In the final adjustment the screws must be tight and the cartridge has to be properly aligned when looked at from underneath.
