This video shows my fastest lap of the weekend at the 2006 Canadian Solosprint Nationals at the St.Eustache track in Quebec, Canada.
I learned to drive on tracks in a Honda Insight. For 2006 I drove a B20 powered 1993 civic hatchback with 10K/14K spring rate Tein RA coilovers.
Notice how stiff the suspension is on this bumpy track. All the tracks i've driven in Ontario are smoother then this track, but this is a very fun track. I competed in hard compound Hankook Rs I bought used, i wasn't happy this their grip level. Next year i'm buying brand new Toyo RA1 tires.

  • time for new clutch

  • I agree that the clutch was slipping slightly but not because it was worn out. The stock Type R clutch couldn't handle the torque of that B20B engine. The clutch still worked fine for 2 more seasons of track and street use.

  • very nice drivig :D , can u please tell me if the B20B crv block + b16a head is better than a full b16a v-tec engine ?? and how about the b18c block + b16 head , many people recommend it , thanks :)

  • Which engine combination is better depends on your definition of better.

What will the car be used for?

I prefer the stock B20B because it's very inexpensive, extremely reliable and has plenty of torque and adequate power.

  • the car will be used for street only , in my country the price of B16A twincam vtec as the same price of B20B crv !!! so which one should i buy ! or i use the b20b block + b16 head .

i know that the b16a have about 160hp and the b20b crv is less than 140hp , so what i dont know is what power can i got from using the b20b block + b16 head , but im sure the b20 have more tourque :S what would u do in my situation ?

  • I bought the red civic with a B16A block and a Integra Type R (1.8L) head. With that engine setup the car had 175 WHP. When that engine blew up after many years of racing I replaced it with a stock B20B JDM CRV engine with 142 WHP. The old engine had more power but only at very high RPM, the B20B has much more torque and power at low to mid RPM so it's better for driving at a race track and better for the street. But little engines that scream at 9000 RPM and have V-tech that kicks are fun.

  • It's good to see a few none vtec B20 powered civics. You see too many ls/vtec b20/vtec, it is a risky setup, only some people can build reliable ones. Nice driving by the way.
