@kormaroad From there, you get the pot ready with water. Wash your idli plates. Let it dry off a bit. Make sure your idli batter is thick, but not too thick. Thin it with water as needed, a tiny bit of water at a time. The texture you're looking for is at 3:55. Put it in the plate. Make sure not to fill the plate completely. Leave the lid ajar, so you can see the steam coming out. When you see the steam, drop the heat to LOW, and steam for 20 minutes. To test, touch an idli. It shouldn't stick.
@kormaroad 1 cup of urad daal. 2 cups of idli rava (coarsely ground rice flour). Add the urad daal to a bowl, and soak it in water, overnight. Put the idli rava into a bowl, and add water; soak for four hours. Use a grinder to grind the urad daal to a fine paste. Squeeze out the water from the soaked idli rava. Add a bit of salt to the idli rava. Mix it through. Combine the urad daal and idli rava, and leave it to soak for a couple of hours. Set it on a plate so it doesn't make a mess.
