Well I've had this HP laptop since Jan 2009. It hasn't had many issues with it but the issues that did occur have been in pain in the butt! First, the hard drive went out the first year I had it. It was still under warranty so I sent it in to get it replaced. No issues with that it came back within 3 weeks. But a month or two later (I forget), the laptop now warms up pretty quickly and overheats often but no enough to shut it down. It got pretty hot though and the fan would spin like crazy making all that noise. Then a few weeks later the screen gets a fuzzy line across the bottom of the display. I think eh, nothing big. Well it gets worst so I call HP again and send it in. Comes back no fuzzy line, but it still over heats. Well slowly over time I do whatever I can do minimize the CPU usage and also buy programs such as tuneup utilities that helps keep it in check. Well its aug 2011 now and the laptop still gets hot but mainly when watching videos. Seems like all this heat is getting to the laptop and the display (maybe, im not an expert so i dont know)? I do know that MANY people are having similar issues with HP laptops. I looked up reviews and complaints. HP this is BS!! Apparently the fan and vents being under the laptop and not the side doesn't help much either. This is BS just thought I'd post this to see how many other people are having the same damn issues with HP laptops! Never again unless they produce a better product!!!

  • My HP Pavillion is 4 months old..... what can i do!!?? it super overheats.... help, help.... it's not for sure a virus issue... should i send it back to the fabric??? :/ tnx

  • @lanoviadeoscar did you buy it directly from the factory? If so i would send it back. It should still be under warranty or at the lease contact HP. if they even help. My laptop is actually running very cool now. The screen is still messed up. I completely took it apart and cleaned the fan and heatsink assembly. It found some good build up of dust. Yours shouldn't be that bad giving its only 4 months old, unless you work in a very dusty environment. But it could be software issues as well

  • ya i used compressed air to blow out the dust occasionally.. it does build up.. im sure that there are people who don't encounter this problem.. but there are a lot who do and it shouldn't be that way.. i went ahead and ordered a new inverter and flex cable from ebay.. hopefully that works..

  • Guys you must blow the fan every time you see it dirty. If is already giving you problems, the video chip got loose . It need to be resolder. About $100.

  • i hav this laptop and it was pretty good but now ill be doiing something then itll just turn off .. and when i turn it back on it says my files are corrupt, now this computer is shit, ima just gowith mac man

  • @lanoviadeoscar my sister has the same laptop and hers does the same but is now getting worse so id send it back

  • I have the white dv4 model and the only problem I have is the noisy fan at times...but i have this guy i know who works on computers and he says that it is a common problem in laptops especially smaller ones like ours due to space. He also says that they need cleaning out 6 months out of the box also bcuz they get clogged with dust that fast...as far as your screen i have no idea...I never had that problem and i had mine since fall of 09....
