@BuffersYeoman Oh I forgot to answer you question. Heeresmusikkorps 11, stationed in Bremen Grohn, Germany - 1986 until 1993 when it was disbanded due to the reforms of the German Army

@TheDrummerboi94 Maybe its the recording but YOU tell me where the pipes even can be heard at 1:20 or at 2:30. I love how the brass and the flutes "echo" the main theme and play with it at 1:52 - if they could just be a bit more subtle in other parts.

@BuffersYeoman have you actually learned to read or are you just blowing your patriotic whistle here?
I commented on the arrangement which is a personal opinion I am entitled to, don't you think?
Maybe you should have read a bit more thorougly to discover that I actually praised the band for its performance but disliked (and still do) this particular arrangement.
Let me see, nope, after 44 years of making music myself I must have gone deaf :p

I have viewed nearly all vids on YouTube featuring this fine ensemble and if there is one quality that is expressed in each of them is this band's consistency in performance, timbre, pride, and professionalism. I have yet to see a "bad" performance..
I suppose that at this caliber of musicianship failure is not an option.
I've never heard this work and it's a fantastic synthesis of the solo pipe and winds. This gives me chills.
HMRM, you have unwavering respect!
God bless you!

Okay what are you now saying? do you like it or do you dislike it? The Royal Marine bands are without question the best in the world??? I read and play music, these days it is a Technics home organ, I have an excellent ear., but I would never criticise professional musicians and I certainly would not criticised such on a worldwide platform.
-
@ceemosp If you have a musicians ear you'll actually hear that the brass and pipes harmonise and compliment eachother beautifully
-
ceemosp.......... If you cannot give someone or some thing praise then don't give any. What military band have you or do you play in???????????? now let me guess? I have in my time marched behind a few of these, have you? BY RN

Royal marine bands kick ass !!!!!

Good performance but I don't like this arrangement at all. The band (brass and especially the cymbals) hammering the pipes into the background. This piece was written for the pipes and they should carry the music not the brass. Apart from that, an immaculate performance (as always) by this brilliant band.

Best band in the world is the Royal Marines.
Best tune, best arrangement, best tempo. Top it off, played by the best marching band. Absolutely, the best performance on this piece.
