Total depravity is the teaching that, as a consequence of the Fall of Man, every person born into the world is enslaved to the service of sin and, apart from the efficacious or prevenient grace of God, is utterly unable to choose to follow God or choose to accept salvation as it is freely offered. - Wiki

  • this is the doctrine of absolute heresy.

What bunkum to say man can't do the very thing God asks of him!

Lost.Saved.Lost. Saved.lost saved...nice is the god of calvanism.

  • "As it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; 11THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; 12ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE." "

    Romans 3 (NASB)

  • Heh heh heh. Still bashing the old verses are we?

''For God would have ALL men to come to a knowledge of the truth.''

Let's not argue. Calvinists generally exhibit a remarkable ability at circular reasoning....

  • "THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD"

    Romans 3

"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him"

    John 6

  • Isaiah 64

All our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment...There is no one who calls on Your name, Who arouses himself to take hold of You.

    Matthew 17

...the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.

    Jeremiah 17

The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick

    Genesis 6

Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

  • Reform theology is right. Salvation is the singular work of God.

  • Yep! Paul was so convinced that he was one of the most important people in the world, so much so that he called himself the most important sinner of all (1 Tim 1:15). Now that's what I call real humility.

Jesus did not say anyone is unable to come to Him. He said they are unwilling to come to Him. Surely there's a vast difference.

  • This is awesome.

  • @cornwallsteve "Jesus told men waht to do to be saved, as did the Apostles." As do Calvinists. The only people who have said what you said in your comment are people ignorantly mocking Calvinists, not Calvinists themselves.

Maybe they will believe, maybe they won't, God knows. The one preaching the Gospel however, does not know, therefore we preach the Gospel to every creature, and "as many as are ordained to life" will believe.

  • Men came to Jesus, and asked, "What must I do to be saved?"

    .

What did Jesus reply? Did he say:

    .

"You can't actually do anything to be saved. You will have to simply wait to see whether you've been put on the guest list, or maybe you in particular have been assigned to eternal Hell by God's predetermination. You have no say in this matter whatsoever.... so.... chill out."

    .

    Nonsense.

Jesus told men what to do to be saved, as did the Apostles.

  • Either salvation is 100% the work of God or it's man's accomplishment.

  • @nimitz92 read Romans chapter 9

  • So true!,either salvation is 100% the work of God or it's man's accomplishment.

  • Check out romans 9

  • God Bless you Parakeethands, Salvation of of the Lords and all glory belongs to him. Those who don't want to accept this doctrine, are the ones that think that in and of themselves they have the ability to save themselves. This sounds like salvation by works to me, doesn't it? Then paul was wrong, we can boast in front of God and say, "true, your son died for us, BUT, WE Decided to believe and We EXERCISED OUR Faith!!. God help those who think of themselves this way! God Bless!
