Experience the birth of the Birds Nest, Beijings iconic National Stadium which played host to the 2008 Summer Olympics. Swedish designer, Thomas Herzog, conceptualized this marvel, which is not only functional, but architectural and cultural. Explore the creation of this magnificent structure from the beginning stages through the construction and completion. Youll hear from the designers, architects and welders who each played a part. The Birds Nest stands apart from any other stadium as a one of a kind structure unique in its design and social significance. Like humans, buildings have life. The Birds Nest will forever be a piece of Beijings history and Chinese culture.

  • The Birds Nest was designed by the Swiss architecture firm Herzog and De Meuron. The two founders of this firm are JACQUES Herzog and Pierre de Meuron. THOMAS Herzog is a well known German architect who is not affiliated with Herzog and De Meuron, and had no part in designing the Birds Nest.

  • I was looking forward to seeing a nature video with baby birds.
