The major cause of premature aging is concerned with excessive unprotected exposure to sunlight and the application of sun protection products containing chemical sunscreens. 60- 80% of prematurely aging skin comes from sunlight.
Extrinsic Aging
Almost 90% of cell damage is a result of exposure to UVA, UVB, UVC and Infra Red rays and the application of chemical SPFs.(sunscreens)
These constant irritationslead to chronic damage mostly through the by product- free radicals.
The chemical sunscreens are not only responsible for premature aging but can also disturb the functioning of the Endocrinal System and lead to hormonal imbalances that may well result in cancer.
A research group has assessed the safety values of the UV filters in depth. In the most up-to-date studies published, research workers from The Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Zurich made an assessment of the ability of various sunscreens to disrupt the endocrinal (hormonal) functions. During the testing carried out, they confirmed that five out of six sun screens stimulated a breast cancer cell which is activated by oestrogen-like chemicals. These UV sunscreens included benzophenone-3 (Bp-3), homosalate, 4-methyl-benzylidene camphor (4-MBC), octyl-methoxycinnamate (OMC), and octyl-dimethyl-PABA. The final sun screen agent butyl-methoxydibenzoylmethane had no damaging effect.
What is extremely disturbing is that 96% of sun protection products contain the dangerous octyl-methoxycinnamate (OMC) and these products are sold without restrictions in almost every country in the world
The latest research also has revealed that traces of chemical sunscreens have been found in mothers milk.
Facts to Face
1. Chemical sunscreens were found in 75% of samples taken from mothers milk.
2. Those chemical Sunscreens are also to be found in fish and Algae- Fish and Algae consume the chemical sunscreens that eventually find their way to the sea, lakes and rivers.
3. You can also find those chemical substances in the earth and dust another source of exposure that affects people.
Consequences
1. Children are nourished with chemical sunscreens. Those new born babys immune systems react badly to those chemicals. This may result in various illnesses and developmental and growth problems.
2. Severe hormonal changes are thought to take place as a result of the presence of those chemical sunscreens. (Please read the articles).
What is your responsibility to yourself and others?
1. Tan the healthy way by never using cosmetic products or sun care that contain chemical SPFs (chemical sunscreens)
2. Take responsibility for your community. Protect yourself, your family and friends by informing everyone you know about the articles on safe sun care.
3. Save the animals and your environment by avoiding the use of chemical sunscreens. (Sun creams wash off in the water)
