Part 1 of 2

With a little patience and time, you can create new instruments to add new sounds to your arsenal. In this video, I take some random items from my house and sample them, then we go into Logic, and we create a new drum instrument from the samples.

  • good vid, but bro, please get a mousepad!

  • Nice video. Question...I have a Juno 106 that I would love to use. Can I sample the sounds with Logic, and will they sound fairly original? Should I use direct output of the Juno to an input on my Mac or should I use my MAudio interface? Thanks.

  • @dannythedrone YES!!

  • Cool and helpful stuff here man, thanks.

In this sort of editing where you want a lot of tools accessable, you can think about adding a third mouse tool. So you can have the arrow tool, the marque tool or scissors AND the crossfade as the third can be activated with a right click (or control click).

Logic/Preferences/General/Editing/Right Mouse Button (select desirable function)

  • "were also gonna do an open hihat" hahaha great job man,

  • Is there a way to tweak every single sample in the EXS24 like you can do in UltraBeat in the "step edit mode"?

    Thanks

  • GREAT TUT! Just was I was looking for. Thank you so much for doing this!

  • 1) to chop regions at transients quickly, select the marquee tool, click on at the far right of the region, hit the left cursor key. the marquee line will jump to the transients automatically. hit backspace to chop them.

    2) if you have a right click button on your mouse, go to prefs > general > editing and change right mouse button to "is assignable to a tool". you will now have another box at the top-right of the arrange where you can select the right-click function, e.g. crossfade tool.

  • Finally!! My browser crash and wiped my youtube history so I had to search all over youtube for your Logic training videos ( yours are the best) you are very detailed and methodic you have an extremely effective teaching style (keep up the good work)

  • Thanks for the vid! Really informative!
