very beautifull song from yugur band "yaoaoer"
Yugur (sari Uyghur) people are the decendents of ancient uyghur people.
From this song, you can hear the voice of a vanishing nation.

more information about yugur people:
the Yugurs (simplified Chinese: 裕固族; traditional Chinese: 裕固族; pinyin: Yùgù Zú), or Yellow Uyghurs as they are traditionally known, are one of China's 56 officially recognized nationalities, consisting of 13,719 persons according to the 2000 census. The Yugur live primarily in Sunan Yugur Autonomous County in Gānsù Province.

About 4,600 of the Yugurs speak a Turkic language and about 2,800 a Mongolic language; the remaining Yugurs of the Autonomous County lost their respective Yugur language and speak Chinese. A very small number of the Yugur reportedly speak Tibetan. They use Chinese for intercommunication. Both Yugur languages are now unwritten, although vertical Uyghur script was in use in some Yugur communities till end of 18th century.

  • these people are descendants of ancient uyghur people, turkic people who lived in modern Mongolia but later migrated to Tocharia. Modern "uyghurs" have nothing to do with these people beside speaking a related language. Tochars kept their language (which is called uyghur today), but changed their name from "Toqar" to "Uyghur" because uyghurs were a ruling clan in their country. The fact of heavy mongoloidization of yugurs is a proof of that. P.S. mongols and us are absolutely different peoples.

  • @virulentwestie

i can't agree with you. tocharians are just one part of Uyghur's ancestors, not the whole. it is not that simple as you said. todays uyghurs are a mixed people with ancient uyghurs, tarim basin people(or so called tocharians) and other nomadic people. todays Uyghurs and Yugurs are not simply related by language, but also with ancestor's blood

  • Oh, my god! Amasing the song can touch a mongol so deeply. The melody is completely like mongolian style. I don't know yugurs well, but is there something related between us? or i just got a wrong feeling?

Anyway, Best wishes to Yugurs from a Horchin mongol.

  • i think yugurs have a strong influence with monghul people and culture. i read that western yugurs speaks a language close to uyghurs, while eastern yugurs speaks more close to monghuls. yugurs are confidereation with turkic and monghulic tribes,as other nomadic confidiration in history.

  • Tibet????

  • no, siriq uyghurs from gansu (kengsu) provence.

  • 也许我们被波斯化了,但是这些人被蒙古化,吐蕃化的更严重了!最起码我们的语言比他们纯真一点!
