BEFORE I SAY ANYTHING ELSE, LET ME ASSURE YOU THIS:
I am NOT saying that Asians are inferior to non-asians in any way, shape or form. Don't even try it. Any nasty, racist comments, like "U R SSOOOOO RASEST!!!11"...or..."AzNz R SooOoOOo MuCh BEteR @ CoZpLAy!!!ONE" WILL be deleted.

RACE DOES NOT MATTER IN COSPLAY.
I have seen some God-awful Asian cosplay, just as I have seen some God-awful non-Asian cosplay.
We all have our great cosplayers and our sucky cosplayers, got it? You wanna fight about it, give me an email: xmosraelx@aim.com

Now, just today I was surfing around good 'ol YouTube and was casually looking at some cosplay videos. I was surprised at how many racist comments I saw on some of these, most saying that Asians were the best, Americans shouldn't even try, and stuff like that. Some videos went so far as to just show Asian cosplays, as though amazing Caucasian cosplays didn't even exist.
And, honestly, I was disgusted.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there aren't amazing Asian cosplays, I know there are. But I'm a Caucasian cosplayer, myself, and I know for a FACT that there are positively AMAZING non-Asian cosplays out there.

So I decided to make a video to counter the ones made about JUST Asians.
So here you go. :3

Enjoy! :3 (more)

  • @BrainTetsujin17 Uh no, not all anime characters are based on Japanese celebrities. Some are, but a majority of them are not. I've seen a lot of anime characters who were even based on HOLLYWOOD celebrities. Example: Leonardo Di Caprio was used as a model for a character in the manga Hana Kimi. Can you tell me what Japanese celebrities were used for Cowboy Bebop then?

  • @bagleyy Did you ever stop to think that I am an Asian silly child?

  • @Arisainwonderland

generally typical anime characters are inspired by japanese actresses /models /singers like AKB48 or Buono. if you have never seen AKB48 or Buono, check out "【PV】" or "Buono!" on my channel.

  • since anime creators grow up in japan, its natural that most anime characters are based on japanese. Sailor Mars including her personality was based on a japanese actress named Mizuki Arisa for example. but anime creators introduce fashions into anime. lots of characters in the 1980s science fiction anime were based on caucasian because of hollywood movies. the protagonist of Space Adventure Cobra was based on a french actor named Jean Paul Belmondo for example. check out "AMV" on my channel.

  • @miichan222 I guess that's because most people judge the cosplayer based on appearance, not what race the cosplayer really is. Japanese are asian, so they believe asians, regardless of whether they're really Japanese or not(chinese, korean, etc) have the ability to pull off the "Japanese" look. If westerners cosplay and end up looking too "western" and not "Japanese", then that's the only time when the discrimination comes in. It's sort of like saying anyone who LOOKS "Japanese" can cosplay.

  • I'm Japanese. For most Japanese, of course RACE DOES NOT MATTER IN COSPLAY.

I don't know why some 'asians' (not Japanese) don't admit non-asian Cosplay. Characters in Japanese Anime are Japanese. Not Korean or Chinese or Filipino. If western people or black have no right for Cosplay, then asians except Japanese have no right for Cosplay too. We NEVER think Characters in Japanese Anime are 'Asian'. They are just JAPANESE.

  • @CatatonicClarity Vocaloid in general have no plot (just names and design). In videos, they often "play" Europeans (look for "Duke Venomania" and the "Daughter of Evil" series for famous examples); best Western cosplays I've seen tend to be of this kind. As for Olympics 2012, I voted for Miku because I don't like the other top ten, and Tarja Turunen was hopelessly stuck at 200+ ; I don't see how Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber or Super Junior would work better.
