In 1935, songwriter Tian Han had to write a song for the closing of the movie "Son and Daughters of Turbulent Times," which called upon the Chinese public to resist impending Japanese invasion of China.
Tian then received a telegram informing that his two friends, a married couple who were college students from Japanese-occupied Manchuria that had gone back to join the insurgency against the invaders, had perished. Based on his emotions then, Tian wrote this song, popularized during W.W.II.

我國慶時在香港看煙花， 很精彩， 當中有一首歌是We are Ready! 很感動， 我作為香港人會跟祖國一起， 努力向前走， 盡力去改進中國， 盡力去貢獻祖國！
