I love when people compare arts that have developed in vastly different backgrounds. In essence some styles are not comparable but all teach the same self focus and are equally good for the person who is training
and dont even start with bjj. JUDO > bjj (since bbj is a Brazilian rip off the japs) JUDO + true art is MUCH better BJJ + MMA... MMA has no chance.
the only reason why u dont see this often is cuz the real martial artists have better things to do than joining random comps... but if u want an example. go look up Shokei.. i will gladly agree he represents one of the few true martial artist on youtube.
Also, knowing the art in muay thai is easier to achieve but harder to sustain compared to tkd. Muay Thai they rely on being strong, super endurance and well conditioned, but being a true tkd or karate artist is not only based on strength, but also to do with training to perfection with good chi AND INCLUDING proper Ki. the art grows with time, Hence the awesomeness of the old masters. Just on my opinion tkd will win long term..as time progresses, a true tkd student excels a good muay Thai fighter.
hmm...dont put down taekwondo. the footage you see, sure its just demos and choreography. but they are also extremely powerful and effective fighters- and for a proper student,INCLUDING their arms!! In comparison to a Muay Thai fighter they have advantages and disadvantages also, generally in this case it depends on the fighter not the style...
To all you TaeKwonPussies, gymnastics and choreography don't mean shit. If you want to look pretty, take dancing lessons. If you want to learn combat, study Muay Thai. To KullofAtlantis, I agree with everything you say. You are a true introspective warrior.
I have to disagree with you. I practice taekwondo (WTF), and in combat we use the arms to defend, at least in my school we learn that way. But I admit that against another martial art practician (not of every martial arts, but some) we woulnd't stand for much longer, but in a street fight our head kicks knock a guy out right there.
Well maybe poeple learn it for the ART side of things, they dont have to use it for fighting and I mean what are the chances your going to get ina fight with some one on the streets who knows another Martial Art I have'nt
