harold leventhal a song plugger for irving berlin and then benny goodman right before world war 2 was coordinating sinatra with goodman --- and then was an icon of the folk era 60's and early 70's -- managing the weavers from inception and influencing the folk era dylan baez --arlo guthrie etc--- weavers with gordon jenkins elevated goodnight irene to a massive hit in 1950---
The Great Sinatra, as in every song he sang, always at his best!
Frank Sinatra could take just about any song and perform it so very beautifully. He was truely an artist with amazing. The arrangement of this song is beautiful, as are the background singers. In the 1950's we were fortunate to live in the golden age of pop music.
Haha "the most unFrank Sinatraest!" His voice is still amazing in this recording, the background singers make me chuckle a little, but it is still a nice version! :-) Thanks for posting!
Sinatra doing Leadbelly? Fuck yeah!

"Going home to my wife and family and sit by the fire bright". Lovely words. If only more men would do just that, and realize how lucky they are.
