On 1st November 1984, the last of five concerts of the European concert tour of Chess took place at the Berwaldhallen concert hall in Stockholm, Sweden.
The tour had started in London on 27th October and went to Paris, Amsterdam and Hamburg.
The concerts featured Elaine Paige, Tommy Körberg, Murray Head, Barbara Dickson, with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Ambrosian Singers.
Benny played accordion and keyboards and Björn hid in the choir standing next to Karin Glenmark who, along with her brother Anders, was on backing vocals.
Towards the end of the concert Barbara Dickson, who plays Svetlana, becomes ill backstage. Unaware, Tommy Körberg begins the highy complex duet "Endgame" but when Barbara misses her cue, he looks round for her.
Backing singer, Karin Glenmark, who had sung the part on the demos and previously in concert stepped forward and rescues the concert -- it is one of the defining moments of her career.

  • Amazing. I´ve been looking thru old Chess videos to rediscover the epic greatness of Tommy Körberg, especially in this song. I came across this version audio only, just some weeks ago and taught it would have been cool to actually see this. And voila Stupot1966 delivers! Fantastic reactions by Körberg and really well done by Karin Glennmark! Unfortunately Körberg was also a bit ill during this concert leading to him skipping some of the higher notes - but he still pulls it of great.

  • I have been looking for this video for ages. It was on youtube at the beginning but then it was deleted. So great it has been uploaded. Thanks Stupot1966....thanks, you have brightened up my day

  • Haha, that's kind of funny! He looks a bit puzzled when there is no Barbara and a bit surprised when she starts singing from the choir. Too bad he is sick...when he sings this otherwise it's pure magic...now it's just f****ing great :-)

  • Marvellous Karin Glenmark!

  • Oh, this is my favourite version of this song - totally incredible singing! /watch?v=BydBPiFzORk
