@modfly1 There is no accounting for your lack of discrimination and poor taste, there never is.

@chookiechooks Lip-synching was so common in those days due to primitive tv studio equipment, which was not capable of handling the increased decibels that was inherent in Rock'n'Roll. music. The sheer volume of all those amplifiers and drumkits would send the vu's into the red, causing distortion. Logistics also played a part. Rock bands require a considerable amount of time to set up and soundcheck. tv schedules were tight.

@chookiechooks I'm guessing that the "Wrecking Crew" were the players on the recordings (Hal Blaine Drums, Carol Kaye Bass, Tommy Tedesco/Glen Campbell on guitars) They played on lots of 60's hits. Most bands in the 60's in LA were replaced by studio musicians, usually the "Wrecking Crew." I wouldn't be surprised if Terry Melcher used the WC for most of his recordings. I know Hal Blaine played drums on "Indian Reservation."
The incomparable Mark Lindsay is actually singing in this video. Often, in these clips he is just lip synching. But here, it's the Raiders' musical performance that is pre-recorded. What gives? Drake Levin is not here, but Fang and Smitty or Paul were not lightweights. Why are the Raider musicians never live in these old tv clips? Was Terry Melcher the man behind the curtain? I don't get it. He was a great producer, but the Raider players did not suck as performers. Does anyone know why this is?

@chookiechooks Well, most of the shows that The Raiders were attending - Where The Action Is, Smothers Brothers etc - had lip synched performance or pre-recorded ones. The only big show where artists performed live from time to time was Ed Sullivan Show.
