  • Just found this vidao. Love the cab ride, love the engine as I have driven it myself before. Not sure running with the fire door open is a good idea though as whilst it may hold the pressure down drawing cold air through the door onto the tubes, mixed with the hot fire is sure to cause problems in the future, If she steams too well open up the blast nozzle a little, and only run with the door cracked open on the downhill stretch. Cheers

  • @PUASHP Thanks, I would say thats a matter of opinion. It's what i was told to do by the owner. If you had driven this loco you would know how much steam she produces, I dont know the ins and outs of this loco but i suggest if you want to talk about it give chris a message (summerlandsteam) as he is the old owner of the loco when it was ladybird

  • 1:05 looks like u need a bit more pressure , maybe once i have got some miles of driveing on the sdmr i might see about coming up there some time see what you have up there nice vid tulki

  • @MrTllr and also the safety valve goes off at 80psi not when the gauge says it does :D

  • @Summerlandsteam well i had a very heavy load on my train, a dennis and a kevin!!! I got around quite nicely on 50psi but i wouldnt want any less than that!

  • @omnibus360 - Kind of you to say so Tulki! Incidentally, with her 3" cylinders, she has pulled a heavy train up the final gradient with only 50psi on the clock. I don't advise it though!!

    Cheers

    Chris

  • @MrTllr no that pressure is good, its just after the first hill and the rest of the track for the next 1/6 of a mile is downhill so by the bottom you get a lot of pressure

  • @omnibus360 Will do!

  • @Firrboxfryup i might visit, message me closer to the time :D

  • @omnibus360 September they have an open day, I should be volunteering by then... not got a steam engine yet though. :-(
