@sjolinpeter the Sino-Soviet split occured when China became more and more bold and challenged Soviet authority. The Soviets never really had that much influence in China. Mostly, they just sent advisors and military equipment to aid the CCP in the early years of the Chinese Republic.

@sjolinpeter The Soviets were not really involved in China. The Soviets relinquished control of their spheres of influence after Mao took over. Port Arthur was given back to the CCP after WWII. Mao also retook several disputed territories that he claimed had been a part of the Qing Dynasty in Manchuria. Mao also convinced the Soviets to give part of the Trans-Siberian Railroad to China.
