  • i know what you mean. i have a thumper cam in my 454 and if i turn the time down it run like shit. Now im trying to control the overheating problem. these cam are not all the crack up to be. if i knew what i knew now i wont never by another one in my life. it seem that you never finish paying for this cam. these cams are not worth that headache trust me.

  • @blu22beast Since I posted this video about 1 year ago I have since removed the Thumpr cam and replaced it with the GMPP zz572 cam. It's a direct swap into the zz502 - you just need roller rockers to accommodate the .632 lift - the car runs so much better and still has the killer idle.

Thanks to @bigtire572 for posting the 572 idle video of his camaro. That was a tremendous help.

  • Nice, very nice! Are you running the GM serpentine kit on that? I've got the same car, same engine, etc, and just getting ready to install accessories. Have heard the GM kit won't clear the steering box with the large ps pump... Just wondering, it was hard to tell from vid. Love the car. It inspires me to get off my ass, and finish mine.

  • @neverdullboy Yes that is the GM serpentine kit I bought from SDPC without the AC compressor. The power steering does not clear the steering box. I had to grind about 90% of the head off the lower passenger side bolt on the power steering box and gently!! recess the pump resivoir with a ball-peen hammer to make it fit. (you cant even see it when its installed)

  • @ss66chevelle1 i noticed you have no door handles i did that to my 66 like back in the early 90's i also welded my tailight studs closed and filled in the seems as well as the rocker seem on the bottom, it fooled alot of people, they couldn't tell what the car was, its still a chevelle, i would tell them i know the tail light housing are magnesium, i took the gaskets out, and tightened them up welded so wouldn't back out, and filled with lead. bondo to smooth out,

  • @blu22beast i'm actually running a large 680 int and 710 exh, cam in my 496 stroker, with out over heat issues, what radiator etc thermostat are you running?i used to live in las vegas now in fla,

  • @prostreet55 I was running a holley street avenger with vac secondaries, obviously the wrong carb. I replaced it with the GMPP (holley) 870 with mechanical secondaries and 4 corner idle. The carb was tuned for the 572 so just 2 sizes smaller on the jets for my 502 and its great. I am running an electric vacuum pump for the power brakes (canister isnt enough) I replaced the thumpr cam with the zz572 cam .632 lift hydraulic roller.

  • @ss66chevelle1 you could of put a vacuum canister as well. and also holley makes adjustable power valves. also your only ruinning a dual plane intake, on teh rear side passenger side of holley carbs is a butterfly screw. for secondaries you can crack them if you don't have big stall or idle issues, the cam what is your lift? hyd.solid or roller? also get a good mini started that will take care of starter issues.

  • Sounds great would u recommend this cam if so how much of a lift does it have?

  • beautiful chevelle!
