  • I dislocated my shoulder last May. I'm getting this surgery done tomorrow. My question is to everyone out there that has had this done before and plays football,, Tomorrow will be July 16th. and my season starts August 29th which is 6 weeks and 6 days after my surgery... I'm going to J.V. football this year @ my high school. Has anybody experienced if that is enough time for it to heal? because i know that we're gunna be practicing on the field and in the weight room with the Varsity every day.

  • @clocc51

6 weeks are definitely not enough. The healing takes 4-6 months (ligaments heal very slowly).Which means you could do damage or dislocate again if you are not careful. In 6 weeks you won't even be able to run comfortably, let alone play.

    Good luck to you.

  • Nice... I had the same procedure done to my shoulder. What the heck was that egg-shaped thing floating around in the beginning of the video?

  • I have no idea what that thing was.Maybe fat. It did make the video more exciting though.(if you can ever call a video like this exciting) :)

  • Will you be able to move your shoulder 100% safely? Thanks for the video!

  • I have full range of motion and can play most sports. But you can forget about playing baseball ever again.

  • I've had two shoulder surgeries for instability on both of them. They went in and tightened the ligaments... It's been a year now and they still hurt

  • No sound overlay of explinations of the procedure

  • I had this and a capsular repair. 4 weeks after operation I was jumped on by someone out at a club and i lifted them up with both hands (while sling was loosely on) and threw them off. I was in no pain because i was drinking. However in the morning occassionally felt sharp pain, muscle twitches and aching and was sure that I had torn a ligament or something. My surgeon said it was highly unlikely unless it was in external rotation. Does anyone know how strong sutures are?

  • Today i have 6 months from the surgery, and i m very happy with results...

My shoulder is 100% healed, but i still have 5º of limitation on extern rotation...

And yes guys, you can back to sports, but it will need like 8 months to be 100% perfect

  • @stelioscs Why no baseball? think about getting the surgery I practice kuk sool won a martial art with a lot of shoulder and hip throw. do you think I will be able to do this after surgery.

  • can some1 tell me what's the price of this procedure?... i mean euro/dolars or something like that , i heard is verry expensive..

  • Had this done yesterday, 6 weeks in a sling then physio things to do till around may next year UI think it was find out full recovery length on the 17th. Should be back playing rugby for the 2012/13 season though :)

  • @clocc51 great to hear you did well! Have an even BETTER upcoming season and stay healthy! -kstewskisPT ;o)

  • @kstewskis Thank you, I sure am. I've took good care of my shoulder this year, and now I know that I'm ready to play football at my toughest.

  • @clocc51

so are you ready for THIS season? At least you won't have to red shirt it this year. Good luck!
