This is a rust repair on a chevrolet malibu. It was rusting in the usual spot (around the fuel door) and the rust was removed, epoxy primed and painted. If you check out refinishnetwork.com under the blogs section you can find the whole repair process.

I used Glasurit & RM BASF products, por-15 metal ready on the inside and 3M materials. The Fuel door is on the trunk being sprayed for color match.

The guns I chose were the Devilbiss Gti for basecoat, the Iwata w400 for clearcoat and my Devilbiss finishline for primer. The POR 15 was used only on the inside because I could not fully clean the metal. The outside was sandblasted so Epoxy primer was the most logical choice.

Everything was either removed of adjusted for paint access. My first coat of clear ended at the bottom of the sail panel while my second one went right across to the front of the vehicle. (above the fender).
