"Fire" is a 1968 song by Arthur Brown, Vincent Crane, Mike Finesilver and Peter Ker. Performed by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown, it was released as a single and on the band's debut album, also called The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. The single made #1 in the UK (in August 1968) and Canada. In October, it made #2 in the US Billboard charts and #19 in Australia. It also made number 6 in The Netherlands.

The song is an example of the psychedelic rock of the period, though its lack of guitars distinguished it from many of its contemporaries. The lead instrument in this case was Vincent Crane's Hammond electronic organ, augmented by an orchestral section featuring prominent brass. The singer's opening proclamation of himself as "the god of hellfire" became a lasting epithet.

  • All fire alarms in the world should be replaced by this song on April fools' :3

  • Then you're missing out. Of any illicit drugs, psychedelics have the most potential to be beneficial. But like anything, too much is a bad thing.

  • The group went through several personnel changes in a short period of time, and indeed it is a masked Carl Plamer, later of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, on drums in this video. His brief stint with the band was from July '68 to year's end... then he went on to form Atomic Rooster, prior to joining ELP.

  • If it wasn't for Arthur Brown and his demonic persona, then Gene Simmons would've had to plagiarize somebody else's schtick. In my opinion, Arthur Brown is one of the unsung heroes of rock n' roll. A true visionary.

  • @TheCatawbaClaw like we needed to know that

  • XD I wonder how The Beatles members felt when this guy came onto the spotlight...what was John Lennon's reaction!

  • I squirted in my first pink taco while this song was playing on my '66 Chevy's AM radio.

  • This was apparently number one on the music charts the week I was born. How cool is that?

  • Love this song so much reminds of my youth...and the mask WOW

  • Great mask too
