Hehe, maybe you should read about LinuxMCE before you try comparing it to Elisa. LinuxMCE is much more than just a pretty media interface...

Dont start if you dont know nothing about linux. yes it installs out of the box. (for me)
But it isnt quite plug and play.
about the hardware. check the linuxmce wiki.

I am seriously thinking about building a system for LinuxMCE. I was wondering what kind of specs you have for hardware. Will Dual Core Pentium with nVidia 8500GT work?? I am a Linux noob, but want to try it out and I have hardware priced out for a Windows MCE machine right now, not sure about compatibility with Linux though.

If you are a beginner with Linux, this is seriously not the way to go... Dual Core Pentium and a nVidia card are more then enough, if you want to learn about Linux, and get the hang of it, just install Ubuntu, and play around, do you want a mediacentre install Elisa, really simple to install, LinuxMCE took me about 5 day's

Kubuntu moet al geinstalleerd zijn...
Minimum specs zou ik zo niet echt weten, dit draaide op een AMD Athlon XP 2800+, met 1 GB aan ram...
