  • Kids, I can "float" a small paper clip in water also, but when I add soap to the water it sinks, its actually surface tension that is keeping it "afloat". Add dishsoap to all, place them all in the water gently, and then see if it works. BTW, changing the surface area of an object does not change that objects density.
