    my science teacher told me about this in year 8 and didn't warn us about what would happen. It burnt the top of my microwave. It did look cool though.

    It's pretty safe. I've done that multiple times in my home microwave, another way to get an even cooler result is to use fire, light a match, toothpick, or candle.
