REVIEW OF EUROPEAN LEGISLATION ABOUT VIVISECTION! IT'S A SHAME!

In early September the European Parliament is going to vote a review of the legislation on protection of animals for scientific purposes. It ISN'T going to require researchers to use alternative methods rather than animal tests. Instead, it confirms or grants several freedoms. Actually they will be allowed to:
- test on primates without serious reasons concerning human health;
(art. 5, 8, 55)

- test on stray dog and cat too;
(art. 11)

- reuse many times the same animal in procedures that cause intense pain, distress and suffering;
(art. 16)

- test without anesthesia and/or without administrating painkillers to a suffering animal, if researchers consider it appropriate;
(art. 14)

- test on living animals for teaching purposes;
(art. 5)

- create genetically modified animals by surgical procedures;
give electric shocks to induce to impotence;
keep in solitary confinement social animals like dogs and primates;
practice thoracotomies (open chest) without analgesics;
forcing animals to swim until 'exhaustion;
(annex VIII)

What can you do?
- Click on http://www.leal.it/campagna-bruxelles/petizione-online/ and sign the petition. All the signatures the association is receiving, will be sent to the President of the European Parliament, to the Committee, to the Council of Ministers and to Brussels office of the petitions.

- Let everyone know about this new awful legislation and the petition through facebook, forums, blogs, Youtube channels etc. (if it's possible, translate this message in other languages).

@MonochromeRay - it has been approved BUT still can be OVERTURNED. What are names/emails/addresses of those concerned so we can send a personal protest? The petition does not have a place for comments. Also, less importantly, what was the music in the video? I've heard it before but don't know the name.
