I've been searching all over YouTube to find a video clip of early TV star Dagmar, but have been unable to find even a single one. Then, while sorting through some old videotapes I had in my collection, I found this episode of Masquerade Party from May 22, 1955, featuring Dagmar as a panelist.
Also on this program:
Host—Peter Donald, who was probably best known for his role as Ajax Cassidy on the Fred Allen Radio show.
Panelists—Bobby Sherwood, Ogden Nash and Ilka Chase.
Contestants trying to stump the panel—Singer/Actress Monica Lewis, Boxing great Archie Moore. Famed NY tavern keeper Toots Shor and Lou Walters, owner of NY night club The Latin Quarter. There is a last mystery panelist whose identity is not revealed and who must, I suppose, remain hidden for the rest of human history.

@fromthesidelines Would you know if the show originated from the Ritz (now Walter Kerr) Theater? I know when ABC acquired "Beat the Clock" from CBS and "The Price is Right" from NBC that those series originated from the Ritz. I'm not certain that the Elysee Theater ("Dick Cavett Show," "The $20,000 Pyramid") on 58th Street was owned by ABC at this time

Ilka Chase was also a marvelous actress, probably best known as Bette Davis' sister-in-law in "Now, Voyager." She also played Cinderella's stepmother in the original 1957 live CBS broadcast of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella" starring Julie Andrews.

"MASQUERADE PARTY" was on all the major broadcast networks at one time or another during the '50s, featuring six different hosts; the one most people remember today is the 1974-'75 syndicated edition produced by Monty Hall, with Richard Dawson as host, and Bill Bixby, Lee Meriwether and "poet laureate" Nipsey Russell [the latter day equivalent of Ogden Nash] as panelists. During the 1954-'55 season, it aired on ABC's Wednesday night schedule at 9pm(et).
