Another addition like in PSP version but she's a lot tougher here compared to the PSP version. At first, she's not that powerful but just like Richter, when their HP is at half, they boost all of a sudden and she starts using Byako on you as well as that weird light which is very brutal if it hits. The battle looked easy because Mormegil chips down her HP pretty fast.

  • The Cloak is awesome, where did you get this?

Or is it in the PSX version still avaible?

  • Nope, the PSX version doesn't have it.

  • Why do you have to fight Maria in the Saturn version? Is it her time of the month or something?

  • She just wants to test Alucard if he's capable of saving Richter.

  • Wow, mist form is fucking ugly :S lol

  • Oh, and I forgot to mention all the technical issues like missing transparencies, butchered audio, and terrible slowdowns.

Sure dude, the Saturn version kicks ass. In your dreams.

  • @LazloEnKuldes maria obviously knows nothing of belmont history alucard helped trever belmont defete dracula. also i think alucard can handle his own father.

  • She seems hard.

  • How hard is she?

  • How hard is she, in a scale of 1-10?

  • Nope, all those issues come packed even with real hardware. There's no escape to this fact.

  • @geminimewtwo

And none of these are 'cause he is much likely playing this with an emulator, right?

If you can stand the lack of a few lame extra maps, then the PlayStation version is still *the* choice, especially if it's the japanese edition.

And yeah, you got it correctly for the heigher resolution. I will never understand why they just didn't expand the view field instead of stretching all the gfx without actually redrawing a single pixel. Meh, Konami Krack at its fullest...

  • @geminimewtwo

Well, that's what sucks. There is no definitive version of Symphony of the Night. PS1 lacks the extra levels and items, PSP has Maria like Saturn and her battle but has bugs and is missing extra content. Saturn version is the most complete one. Audio is the same, though there's some slowdown and not true transparencies, but it actually runs in a higher resolution on Saturn, though the game is just upscaled, so it doesn't really take advantage of it.

  • @Kengdarot

they only deleted the extra familiars and replaced the useless jap voice actor babble with something less useless.

the saturn version wasn't even done by the same guys who made original sotn, it was more like an outsourced, officially sanctified fangame than a real version.

see psp version, which is done by the same studio as original sotn. it only adds what was originally planned but not done because of lack of time, like maria mode and battle.

  • HOly fucking bad audio capture >.<
