Eric Zork Alan, National Slam Poet and author of "I am NOT a poet" and "Things to do with beer bottles" Features at one of NYC's hottest poetry venues. Here is Zork's opening poem where he drops names of the likes of Phill Collins, Lili Taylor, Dobie Gray, Davie Jones, Peter Gallagher etc.

Why? Well, the poem tells all... When touring, this is always my opening poem. It's a great way to grab an audiences attention and start a set by interacting with them. It also steals a trick from Chaka Khan where at the end I have every one screaming out my name. Yep, shameless gimmick, but it works.

  • ZORK! "Extraordinarily ordinary" - <grin> awesome work - ZORK!

  • Thank you much. That is always the poem I open up Feature Set, Barnes & Noble gigs and high school visists with. It sdteals fromn Chaka Khan by having audience yell out my name at the end.

  • And just like a classic political poem it ends with the same line repeated 3 times... When I get back from Austin I have to put up a video of a couple minutes of shappy & robbieQ from the Nerd Slam. I am still trying to recover from 4 days of wonderful exhaustion here at the National Poetry Slam.
