This exercise mimics the pull of an Olympic lift but permits either supramaximal loads or supramaximal speeds to be employed because the bar is never caught or racked.

  • why are you not shrugging! are you not straining your back doing that?

  • He is definitely shrugging. The camera angle isn't the best to see it but watch the position of the traps relative to the head at the completion of the pull.

  • While a better shrug would certainly help I certainly don't consider the shrug to be the most important technical aspect of a clean pull.
