Shotgun Fundamentals - 1887 - Tips, Tricks and Strategy for using Mw3 Pump action in Call of Duty

First off, this is a tutorial, not a montage. So, some of the clips are not the greatest. But I included them because they show useful skills, core gun skills, that you should all be using (with any weapon).

Pay your Dues - Don't judge the 1887 until you get damage. It will not work properly until you get the Damage proficiency. I guess this is a good thing, since you'll be one of the few people actually using this weapon.

Fake Out - Pretend to go one way after seeing an enemy, but then double back to catch them by surprise. This is the most effective skill in the COD Skillset.

Strafe Cover - Pop out, fire, strafe back into cover, repeat.

Hold Trigger - The 1887 is a semi auto, but if you just hold down the trigger it will fire when it's ready after going through the reload animation. This will shave milliseconds off the time between shots and could save your life if you miss the first shot.

Zig Zag - If you find yourself out in the open and the enemy is too far away, run a random zig zag route to make you a harder target and close the distance to the enemy.

Jump Shot - Also, to close the gap on enemies out in the open, jump at the last minute before you are going to shoot.

Cancel Reload - There are two ways to do it. A short sprint forward or double tapping Y. I prefer the sprint cause I don't have to move my thumb and it's only 1 button press. You will need to use this quite a lot as enemies pop out as you're reloading.

Rat in a Maze - Navigate the map like rats in a maze. Hug all walls and if you have to go into the open, do so on the shortest distance from cover to cover. (this is not noted in the video but you can see me doing it all the time)

Corner Jump - Use on close quarters or to clear out buildings.

Close the Gap - Again, if you find yourself too far away, quickly duck behind cover and wait 2-3 seconds. Most of the time, the enemy will come closer and you can pop out with a shotgun surprise.

@RAAM847 I honestly can't remember what I used for this video. I was experimenting with different combinations trying to get the perfect set up. But, I think Assassin and Ninja are good with the shotgun. I use the specialist strike package almost exclusively. So I like the ninja/sit rep combo and I don't use SOH until the 4th kill when I need it.

Thanks for the tips -- really damn helpful as I've been struggling with this game -- obviously, the broken spawn system makes it unplayable, but I do like a lot of the new features. Played Black Ops recently and still find it a really balanced game. Treyarch FTW. Hope BO2 or Iron Wolf is as good as we all hope it could be.

@SpectreTheHorseman Have you tried out the silenced Dragunov? The silenced RSASS dislike the m21 EBR from mw2. Have you tried it either?
