"Uhm, he kind of already asked me to be his girlfriend.." I said to Stephanie when we were on the phone a week after Joe asked me to go steady with him.

"What!?" she answered in complete shock.

"Yep.." I answered, and I felt guilty for not telling her. But, I knew she would flip out about it so I just kept putting it off, until now.

"And you waited a whole week to tell me!? That's huge news and I'm just hearing about it now!? Amanda, you're an idiot. You're the most idiotic person I know.." she yelled comments like those for what felt like an hour. I was laughing the whole time, and then she suddenly stopped. "Wait, what'd you say?"

"I said yes." I said after I stopped laughing, but when I thought of the moment I said yes to him a smile stayed plastered on my face. I heard Steph sigh on the other end.

"At least you two are moving forward. Again, I feel like Nick and I are stuck." she said, troubled.

"Joe says that Nick is very sensitive, he probably doesn't want to get hurt." I said, trying to comfort her.

"I know Nick is sensitive, Amanda. Do you realize that on the few days we haven't been together we've talked for at least an hour?"

"So, he's probably just waiting for the right moment." I said, and then I heard her sigh again. "Maybe it'll be today." Joe, Steph, Nick, Kevin, Lisa, and I are going to the beach today. Which is weird, because Steph and I haven't even met Lisa yet.

"Maybe.." Steph said, trying with all she had to fully believe that he was just trying to get the timing right. "But, I can't help but think that there's some bigger reason that we're not moving forward."

"Why don't you talk to him?"

"I'd get all nervous and it would end in a complete disaster." There's Steph, always thinking on the positive side.

"You, nervous?" I asked, honestly suprised.

"Well, that's just what Nick does to me.." she said truthfully, I think she's really fallen for this guy. "But hey, I gotta go get ready. I'll meet up with you in fifteen, kay?"

"Yep, talk to you later." I said, and then hung up the phone. I ran upstairs to my room and threw on a non-revealing bikini. Then I put light jean shorts and a yellow tank top on over it. I put my hair and a high messy bun, grabbed my cell phone, and headed downstairs.

"I'm going to the beach!" I said to my parents while I was walking through the living room.

"Woah, woah. Hold on." my dad said. I turned around and walked back into the living room. "Who are you going with?" he asked.

"Steph, Joe and his brothers, and a friend named Lisa." A friend? I didn't even know her, but I didn't bother to tell my parents that.

"When are we going to officially meet this boy?" my mom asked.

"Uh, I'll invite him to eat dinner over here tomorrow night." I said after thinking off the top of my head, honestly just wanting to leave.

"Alright, hun. Check in later." said my mom.

"Will do." I answered with a smile and then ran out my door. I looked in Joe's driveway and Kevin's car was gone, so they obviously left already. I got to Steph's house and knocked on the door. Her four year old sister, Becca, opened the door and latched onto my leg.

"I've missed you! All Stephanie does is talk to this boy, and when she's not talking to him she's talking about him! She'll never shut up, Mandy!" she yelped. She was the only one who could ever possibly get away with calling me Mandy.

"Really, now? Who's this boy?" I asked laughing, even though I already knew.

"Nicholas Jerry Jonas! And you know how I know that? Cause Stephanie will never stop saying that name!" she yelled. I laughed again and then Steph came to the door and pried her little sister off me.

"Becca, never tell Amanda how pathetic I am again, okay?" she scolded her little sister. Becca frowned and Steph kissed her cheek and then left.

"So, was she telling the truth?" I asked Steph after we started heading towards the beach.

"Every word."


alright, alright. boring? i know. but, just build up. cause it's going to get realllllllly dramatic. i'll get chapter 28 up asap, definitely tonight. :)
i'll give you a hint about what's coming up next:
steph was right when she said there was a bigger reason Nick and her weren't moving forward.
