i may have a similar problem. i have a 2002 bmw e46 325ci.... when i press the brakes.. i hear a hissing noise, as if air is being released. when i release the brakes, the air noise disappears or i hear it very faint.. just a slight hiss. Sometimes when the traffic light turns green and press on the gas, the car turns off. did you experience the same thing? did you fix the problem?
