Why? It's crap. Look at it from a musical standpoint. There's so much going on in this piece; it's musically complex. Eyewitness News NG1 is simple...nothing special to it...no real theme besides the main signature at the beginning and end. And what do you mean it's not Iconic? Ask ANY average news watcher and they'll recognize the theme and associate it with "Channel Seven". It's kinda like Empire's or Luna's theme songs...it's a part of who they are.

No it's not! It sounds like a played out game show! It should use the KABC eyewitness news theme from 2008-2009!

I never understood why WLS didn't have Regis & Kelly(a Disney/ABC syndicated show) at 9am and Oprah at 3pm. I found out the reason--it's because Oprah wants the show to remain at 9am due to that audience and timeslot is what launched her her show nationally and the fact that Inside Edition/Jeopardy! hour is #1 at 3pm. Therefore, WLS passes on Regis while all other ABC O&Os have it at 9am. WLS is also the only O&O to delay Jimmy Kimmel by one hour to air Oprah again at 11:05pm after Nightline.

Not true. KLAS 8 in Las Vegas also airs Oprah at 9am/PT but that's two hours after WLS airs the show at 9am/CT.

And I believe its the only station to show Oprah at 9am as well.

Don't forget since we're in Central, they have a 6pm newscast after World News Tonight. In the east, while some have a 7pm newscast, most have an hour of syndicated programming (Primetime Access) from 7pm-8pm. I'm glad we're not the earliest that show J!. KTVT airs it at 11am. But WLS is the first station in the nation to show Oprah at 9am/CT.
