Nice job! Not pitiful at all. Just ran across this video while looking at random banjo videos. Your approach to posting videos in order to step back a bit inspired me to do the same. I recorded my own version of Last Chance...one I haven't played in while. Kinda rough, but it's super easy in fCFCD.

This tune really grabbed me when I first heard being played by Jim Pankey. Have you heard his version? I play it in a different tuning, what is it when your in double C and you tune the 5th and 3rd string down a whole tone ? Its always interesting to hear tunes played in other tunings , it can really change the feel of the tune.

@silasbanjo I haven't heard Jim Pankey's version--will look it up though. I've heard others playing it in a different tuning, but didn't know what tuning they were using. My fear when going into way different tunings? That I'll never get back in tune again! ;D

@clevblue "Pitiful" b/c I'm just not happy with it yet. Figured if I recorded it, stepped back from it, listened to some more versions, I'd figure out what it needs. Thanks though. What's weird is I didn't realize this was a Hobart Smith tune--I first heard it from a Celtic band--Touchstone. Now I need to find more Hobart Smith to listen to!

@oldthymedragon did the same thing with Charlie Poole. his songs sound great on banjo, but I haven't the courage to put them up on Youtube

@clevblue I'm not sure what it is about posting a tune, but for some reason, it helps me to see/hear them as though someone else is playing them. You should definitely post some of your fave Charlie Poole tunes. I'd love to hear them.
