"Come On Down To Texas" by the band Calico.
The audio is from an old single I bought in the 1970s, so it does have some extra noise.
As a kid I didn't have much money for records, and the few I bought were things like Yes, Genesis, and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. I did like Jerry Jeff Walker and Michael Murphy, but I couldn't afford to buy their albums. One of the very few singles I bought was this one by Calico because I liked the song so much.
This was such a great time. Great Progressive Country Music as we used to call it. I would give anything to have this album on I tunes!

Mine Shaft for a pitcher of beer & Calico performing.
Now thats what I'm talking about.
Last time I saw Calico (in person), was at the old Sportatoriam in Dallas when they performed in concert with Willie Nelson.
Good times, no GREAT times. Such great love ballads on that album.

I worked at a country radio station in the '70s. I remembered fragments of this song and have looked for it over the years. Tonight I found it! Amazing.

I used to have the album, too. So glad to find folks that remember them. Wish they'd get back together for a concert...

Thank you for the post. I have that album. it is great. Went to college and worked with my old friend Jerry Oates of Calico. Used to go see them in Fort Worth, Dallas, and Arlington. Great band.

I thought I was the only person who remembered this group. I've been looking for Calico albums for years. I lived in an apartment in Carrollton when these songs came out and one of the band members' brothers or brother-in-laws (or cousin--it's been a long time) lived upstairs from me.
