This is one hellava variation on that Rick Nelson record " Summertime" but that LP5 tune "She's Mine" is a revelation...check it for yourself on You Tube.
@Roxsox221 I don't think it was an exact "ripoff". Go listen on You Tube to Rick Nelson's "Summertime" before checking the Liverpool Five's " She's Mine" and Deep Purple's " Black Night". Just variations on a theme.
@sealevelattitude Good call for sure. All of your selections are indeed worthy of the credit as well. I remember hearing this song on one of my dad's old mix tapes when I was a kid and thinking holy sh!t that "oldie" would fit right in with the punk music I was rocking out to at the time. But in all honesty, you are right, origins of musical genres rarely point to one single song like I suggested. One thing's for sure: these guys were ahead of their time by a couple decades.
@SlimTwisted I can hear it. But for the sake of argument, what about "It's My Life" by The Animals? Or to spread the fire very far, "Baby Blue" by Gene Vincent and His Bluecaps. Intriguing, of all the rock cuts out there, your thought about "Nothin' Yet." But I definitely think I you could be right.
@tomk1tl These guys had some chops, right?

The hit single from a surprisingly good LP all the way through. Their second LP wasn't nearly as good.
