Most of Nehru's mistakes stem from his deep anti Hindu sentiment. He trusted the British advisers more than Indians. He was in love with the English aristocracy and so he allowed himself to be cheated by Mountbatten on the issue of partition. Like the English Nehru refused to acknowledge that India was an ancient nation and that it was based on the common culture produced by India's religion.
In Nehru's historical view all the pan Indian empires were created and shaped by outside forces. For example in Nehru's view the Gupta empire was just a North Indian empire, the Mauryans ruled the subcontinent, but did not create an Indian identity and so on... But in his opinion the Mughals and the British created a cohesive India. Nehru could not completely ignore the ancient common features of all regions of India, but he did not believe that this constituted a strong bond.
So he went about destroying the glue that created and held India together for millennia - its religion, the Sanatana Dharma, which includes all the philosophies produced in India - Vedic, Vedanta, Prakriti(Buddhism, Jainism etc). It was this religion whichmade the subcontinent more than a geographical entity. It was this religion that created a common cultural identity despite political fragmentation. Nehru could have strengthened these bonds but he weakened them systematically.
depends on ones persperctive. the glass is either half empty or half full.
your thoughts are a rehash of RSS propaganda who have a hidden agenda in bashing Nehru: after all if it werent for Nehru, they would be ruling India today.
RSS. India's very own taliban. Think that would be good for Hinduism? For India?
Even the RSS can be right once in a while. The RSS' views on Hindu philosophy may be debatable, but back in 1947, their views on the 'cultural nationalism' had some validity, not all the radical ones though. However you did not point out any specific point in my comments which you think are wrong, but just a 'RSS propaganda' comment. From this I can only conclude that you are just a Nehru boot licker who will instinctively defend Nehru against any criticism.
Nehru was the last Englishman to rule India. He had all the prejudices of the English against India and the Hindus. Bharat Ek Khoj is the work of a man who suffered from a deep inferiority complex vis a vis the English and a deep superiority complex vis a vis the Hindus. Most of the history in it is completely wrong, unsupported by evidence and a reflection of the colonial mindset.
nehru might have good intentions but he lacked practicality......when paki forces were on the run he ordered ceasefire even though his sikh general meher baba(known as the tiger of kashmir) asked him to give him just 48 hours to liberate the whole of kashmir, second he recognized chinese rule over tibet allowing them to later open up and border dispute with India resulting in the most humiliating defeat for India.
killing of girl child is social evil and not religious. it is followed in northen states like rajasthan, UP , bihar but not in South india. I am from rajasthan it developed due to society and misinterrretetions. hinduism has nothing to do with dowry, sati, or girl killing. it was the first religion to accept women as highest authority in form of goddess n mother. Acc to vedas women has immense strength but it was not interpreted properly which resulted in evils like girl killing, caste systemetc
