i'm like most fans, i didn't like the ending. but that doesn't mean i didn't think it was good. to this day its hard for me to watch this last episode. Roseanne was one of the greatest sitcoms, it was different than anything you saw on tv, even to this day. it was sad just knowing that that series was over. Dan and Roseanna are one of the greatest tv couples, and to have their ending move me the way it did only shows how great the acting and writing was on this show.

@Slagtheangry Can't say anything about the music choice, but the quote is translated. That's the voice-over part.
It isn't uncommon here to leave qoutes or introduction texts in the original language and instead give a spoken German version. Since we 'dub' the whole movie anyway, it's probably easier and cheaper to just have an actor record a few extra lines then to remove the original writing and put German there instead.

You know, it's a little better. But it's extremely odd that the music was an American song and they also didn't translate the ending quote.
-
@Slagtheangry Maybe you'd prefer the German version, which packs much more emotional punch due to a deifferent music choice? This is one of the rare cases where I like the German version better: /watch?v=t8T6XnAcEzs (skip to 8:15 )

@greenrangerv1 I know what you mean. Of all the possible endings, we got the one where Roseanne, who was the center of her family, always in the middle of her family in the openings, is all alone. It just isn't right.
I, too, felt betrayed when they implied that NOTHING in the series was as it had been shown. I disregard the 9th season for that reason.

I think she wanted everyone else to feel sad about the end of the show. What a debbie downer. I like the other comment== she wakes up and winning the lottery was just a dream. But they all go on some summer trip or something

Seriously, how bad was the last season of this show? Rhetorical question btw.

@FanOfPopCulture LOST screwed the pooch with their finale too

I liked the ending except it didn't make it emotional enough in my opinion. The jazz music at the end was way too upbeat as well. I must be a masochist or something but I wished it was a lot sadder of an ending.

Even though the ending was extremly sad, it was a great ending. It was a great shock and it was very out of the ordinary. It brought a sense of reality into tv, because life doesn't end on a joke or a happy note. Things like this happen all the time. Roseanne did one of the best finales of any show.
I wish they hadn't done the whole "Dan is dead, Jackie is gay, and the switcheroo with the girl's BFs." I just wish they had ended a COMEDY show with a joke, like a joke based on Dallas or something, where winning the lotto and the whole last season was "just a dream" and Roseanne wakes up in her normal house.

@greenrangerv1 It was never just a comedy.
