Acoustic Research AR 6 speakers

Acoustic Research did a nice job with the AR 6 model great bass and smooth highs in a small package. This is a true bookshelf speaker with a depth of only 7 1/2" height 19 3/4" and width of 12 1/8" they fit well in most book cases . The imaging is very nice, I'm listen to them with a NAD 7100 receiver that helps. I have them on stands that were designed for the 4x's so the height is nice. If you see a pair anywhere get them and listen to them, they are great.

Interesting I am working on a pair of Dynaco a25 now just out them on Ebay. I will replace the woofers with some I picked up on the ebay also one tweeter is bad also, but I have a replacement. You can never have to many speakers.

These speakers have not been completed yet they are going to get new capacitors cleaning of the pots sanding and staining with danish oil, the only thing that was done was replacing the grill fabric.

I remember being at the AR Music Room in Grand Central Station several times and thinking that the AR 6s were the most coherent and just plain pleasant of all the AR speakers, including the 3As. The 6s spoke with one voice. I think they were meant for rear speakers for quadraphonic at the time, but I liked them on their own. I ended up with Dynaco A25s in the end as my choice.

Nice looking classic design speakers will have to look around for a pair. I haven't seen them on Ebay. Folks must be keeping them or they are rare. Thanks for the post.
