Stuart Milk from the Harvey Milk Foundation (and nephew of Harvey Milk) met with the Genoese LGTB community for a panel discussion on human rights and inclusion. The talk took place at Palazzo Tursi (city hall), Genova, Italy. He spoke on the importance of being authentic as a LGTB person and standing up for your rights. And about forging alliances among minorities to gain a stronger voice. The talk is translated by Riccardo Gottardi and present in the panel were Aurelio Mancuso, Walther Massi (both LGTB activitst) and Donatella Alfonso (journalist with La Repubblica). Grass root activism is an important tool for recognition of the LGTB community and human rights in Italy, not least due to the lack of freedom of the press in Italy, which is the only country in Europe where the freedom of the press is characterised as "semi-free" by the international watchdog Freedom House.
